Need for crosswalk or sidewalk

QUESTION:

My family recently PCS'd to RAF Lakenheath and have been placed in the housing area by Lancewood Walk. We have teenagers going to the high school here; while I have no issues with them walking to school, in order for them to use the sidewalk they have to cross the street, otherwise they are left to walk in the grass/mud. At the junction of Lord's Walk and Radcliffe, they waited for ten minutes trying to cross the street the other morning. When it's raining, they'd rather not walk on the muddy side of the road.

I have no problem serving my military community and would be happy to paint the crosswalk myself. Are there plans for a crosswalk in that area? Or maybe plans to place a sidewalk on that side of the street?

ANSWER:

You're right, our students shouldn't have to walk in the grass or mud to get to school. Fortunately, our base civil engineers painted a cross walk at the junction of Lord's Walk and Radcliffe the weekend of April 14-15. Hopefully this will solve the problem and improve safety for our children on their way to school.
