As the years go by, many things change. Compact discs have made way for mp3 players, floppy disks have been replaced by memory sticks and the majority of households now have internet wired into their homes.

Many people across the globe are turning to the internet as a more convenient way to shop, book travel, communicate and receive the most up-to-date news.

It is no surprise that, RAF Lakenheath's Jet 48, as well as many other military publications, has decided to go Web-based in order to take advantage of the speed and convenience the internet has to offer.

The Jet 48 will gradually shift the bulk of information Liberty Warriors now find in hardcopy format to the Web until the Jet 48's farewell edition Feb. 23.

The content Airmen and their families are accustomed to receiving will be immediately available on the Liberty Live site, found at www.lakenheath.af.mil.

RAF Lakenheath is not alone in the transition from a weekly base newspaper to an online news service, RAF Mildenhall's Marauder will also transition to the Web by March.

This strategic Air Force wide effort gives Airmen the information they need, when they need it.

For those who are used to having a tangible product to tuck under their arm, a new weekly, joint-based publication will be made available with stories from both RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall. Although not an official military publication, it will offer a hard copy version of stories and photos from the Liberty Live site and Mildenhall Web site.

The Jet 48 has delivered local news and information to RAF Lakenheath for more than 60 years. With the timely transition from hardcopy to electronic format, the staff of the Jet 48 remains dedicated to providing the most up-to-date and relevant information to Liberty Warriors and their families.
