The 48th Mission Support Group executes expeditionary and in-garrison personnel, logistics, communications, contracting, engineering and services support for USAFE's largest wing. Provides force protection for infrastructure, facilities, and personnel at home and deployed locations. Enhances the quality of life and quality of service for military, civilian and dependent personnel assigned to RAF Lakenheath, RAF Feltwell, and the local area. 48th Civil Engineer Squadron Supports United States Air Force in Europe's largest fighter wing, including 24 squadrons and 14 tenants with military, civilian, and family members at two geographically separated military installations. Provides emergency management, fire protection, environmental protection, and explosive ordnance disposal. Programs, acquires, maintains, and operates 601 buildings, 1,343 housing units, a regional hospital, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Defense Commissary Agency, and five Department of Defense Dependent Schools valued at $5.6B on 2.3K acres. 48th Force Support Squadron Provides base-level support for military, civilian, and family members assigned to United States Air Force in Europe’s largest fighter wing. Responsible for execution of Military Personnel, Education, Professional Development, Airman and Family Readiness, Career Assistance, and First Term Airman Center services. Manages Airman Leadership School for the 48th Fighter Wing, 100th Air Refueling Wing, 352d Special Operations Group, and 6 geographically separated units in the United Kingdom. Liaises with 100th Air Refueling Wing Civilian Personnel Office. Enhances combat readiness, retention and morale through programs promoting well-being and quality of life. Responsible for dining, lodging, fitness, honor guard, leisure activities, family programs, and mortuary affairs. Maintains readiness for mobility commitments. Liaises between multiple base agencies to include Army and Air Force Exchange Service and Defense Commissary Agency. 48th Security Forces Squadron Protects and defends United States Air Force in Europe’s largest fighter wing, both in-garrison and at deployed locations. Provides force protection for military, civilian, and family members at two geographically separated locations. Coordinates law enforcement operations with host nation police agencies. Executes expeditionary and home stations missions, supporting operations within any Area of Responsibility. Operates the United Kingdom’s only United States Forces correctional facility and largest combat arms training range, providing small arms weapons training to three United States Air Force wings, multiple geographically separated military installations, and sister service contingents. 48th Communications Squadron Operates $64M in communications assets providing superior computer, data and voice capabilities to United States Air Forces in Europe’s largest fighter wing and multiple command locations. Provides United States Postal services supporting military, civilian, and family members. Plans, procures and implements information technology systems and infrastructure projects for two geographically separated military installations. 48th Contracting Squadron Procures goods and services for DoD activities in the United Kingdom, to include the 48th Fighter Wing, the 100th Air Refueling Wing, 352d Special Operations Wing, DoDDS, and DECA. Additionally, manages the second largest Government Purchase Card (GPC) program in USAFE. Provides contracting support for personnel, and deploys personnel worldwide for combat and humanitarian operations, and exercises. 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron Provides full-spectrum logistics capabilities for F-15C and F-15E aircraft assigned to the United States Air Force in Europe's largest fighter wing supporting United States European Command, United States Africa Command, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization commitments. Stores, inventories, inspects, and distributes supply assets worth $880M, $22M worth of petroleum, and vehicles valued at $43M to support military, civilian, and family members. Directs the command's busiest base deployment operation overseeing Unit Type Codes from 25 squadrons and eight support agreements valued at $12.8M.
