International Women's Group
An exciting new group for women is being launched in Newmarket on Wednesday April 28. The International Women's Group will celebrate the diversity of women from all nationalities who make up our local community. The principle is to bring local women together with others who may have moved into the area from overseas, to create a multi-cultural group where women can share common interests, make new friends and exchange skills and talents.
The group is funded by West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership, and follows a similar project which operates in Bury St Edmunds.
The group is the brainchild of Caroline Cowie from the Forest Heath Volunteering Centre. "We want the women who join to decide how the group develops," she explains. "Initially it may be an opportunity to make new friends and share different cultures, but there are also possibilities to invite speakers along or and transfer skills back into the community by organising activities for other groups like the day centre or for local schools and playgroups."
Women of all ages and nationalities are welcome, and future meetings and activities will be arranged to suit the availability and interests of those who come along. Call Caroline on 01638 608022 to find out more - you can get involved even if you can't attend the initial launch.
Further information contact Caroline Cowie 01638 608022 at Forest Heath Volunteering Centre.
