10/26/2012 - ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England  --

Name and Rank: Tech Sgt. Danelle Dominguez

Unit: 748th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Duty Title:
Safety manager

Time in Service: 13 years

Time at Lakenheath: 3 years, 10 months

Hometown: Waipahu, Hawaii

Hobbies: Cross fit and reading

Core Value Portrayed: "Excellence in All We Do"

How does the individual portray that core value?
Dominguez is the go to NCO on the commander's staff. In her role as the squadron safety manager, several of her programs and processes have been benchmarked across the wing. Subsequently she was nominated as one of two unit safety representatives to compete at United States Air Forces in Europe as the best USR for the year. Furthermore, she noticed several of our NCOs were only one class shy of attaining their Community College of the Air Force degree so she worked with the education center to set up a class in our squadron for 20 individuals.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?
I come from a family of military members of all branches and my father is a retired Air Force crew chief. Growing up, his actions taught me good work ethics and honesty and more importantly, the Air Force core values. Being a part of the Air Force gives me a sense of accomplishment. Some people don't see the bigger picture as far as their role in an organization as unique as the Air Force. It's important that people understand how vital their role is. For me, the Air Force is a daily reminder to progress and move forward.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of?
This past year I had the privilege to co-chair the Women's History Month committee. It was extremely humbling to see both women and men promote diversity within the wing.

What are your personal and/or professional goals?
My goal is to complete my degree and strive to be the best leader I can be. With any job, there are always ways to be more capable and proficient.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The best part of my job, whether it's as an aircraft maintainer or program manager, is supporting my fellow Airmen and being a positive role model for younger troops. There's no better feeling than watching your subordinates succeed in their goals.
