NATO mission calls for USAF teamwork
KEFLAVIK, Iceland -- During a NATO air policing exercise, a C-130J Super Hercules, deployed from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, is intercepted by an F-15C Eagle, deployed from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England. The aircraft are major weapon systems of the 493rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, which is made up of both U.S. Air Force and NATO personnel fulfilling an air policing mission that assists in assuring Iceland's air sovereignty from May 12 to June 7, 2012. Load teams compete for title
ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Weapons load crew team members from the 493rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit prepare to load an Air Intercept Missle 9x munition onto an F-15C Eagle during the quarterly Load Crew Competition April 20, 2012. The competition features the best load crew teams from the 492nd, 493rd and 494th AMUs. The winner is determined by the fastest time loading munitions with the least amount of errors. 20th anniversary of the F-15E at RAF Lakenheath
ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- In spite of the recent weather, 48th Fighter Wing mission continues and Liberty Wing Airmen held a 20th anniversary commemoration event, Feb. 10, 2012. The first F-15E Strike Eagle arrived to Lakenheath on Feb. 21, 1992 and has supported numerous U.S and NATO missions from Operation Provide Comfort in 1993 to Operations Odyssey Dawn and Unified Protector in 2011. The F-15E is a dual-role fighter designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
