Col. William L. Marshall is the Commander of the 48th Fighter Wing at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, the only wing in the Air Force with an official name, the “Statue of Liberty Wing.” The Liberty Wing consists of nearly 5,000 active duty personnel, 2,000 British and U.S. civilians, and includes a geographically-separated unit at nearby RAF Feltwell. The wing employs three combat-ready squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagle and F-15C Eagle fighter aircraft.

In this position, he was responsible for an F-15E Combat Fighter Squadron, a MQ-9 Squadron, a KC-135 Squadron, a Space Control Squadron, and an Operational Support Squadron conducting operations at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia.

Col. Marshall entered the Air Force in 1997 after commissioning from ROTC at Virginia Tech. He then entered Navigator training and became an F-15E Weapon System Officer. Colonel Marshall has served at the squadron, Air Warfare Center, AFCENT, Air Staff, and OSD staff levels.
