School Bus Transportation

Student transportation within DoDEA is provided based on pre-determined areas. When you register your child for school, you will be provided a school bus registration form. All students must be registered at the appropriate school bus office, as well as at the school, prior to being assigned a bus stop location. Since driving in the UK is very dangerous, we have initiated strict School Bus Misconduct Penalty Guidelines to better ensure the safety of our children.

Home-Schooling Information

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) policy neither encourages nor discourages home schooling, and they recognize that home schooling is a sponsor's right and that it can be a legitimate alternative form of education.

DoDEA schools provide services for sponsors choosing to home school their minor dependents. Specified auxiliary services such as music, sports, extracurricular and inter-scholastic activities are available. There are local home school groups that offer support and collaborative activities if you are interested.

If you are interested in home schooling your children while stationed in the UK, contact the School Liaison Officer for more information.

British Schools Information

If you are considering the option of sending your child to a British school, there is detailed information at the following public service website which will help answer many of your questions: www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/index.htm.
