Stressful life events (such as the loss of a loved one, legal troubles, or financial difficulties) and interpersonal stressors (such as shame, harassment, bullying, discrimination, or relationship troubles) may contribute to intimate partner or self-directed violence risk. Family and friends are often the first to recognize the warning signs of violence, and they can take the first step toward helping a loved one find mental health treatment.

Exceptional Family Member Program-Medical (EFMP-M)

The EFMP-M’s purpose is to ensure that the medical and educational needs of every Air Force family member can be met in each location to which they are assigned. We do this in large part by screening every incoming family member with special medical or educational needs, but also by building relationships with and maintaining awareness of available resources and coordinating care when family members need this once they arrive. In some instances, we collaborate on a larger scale with clinics and providers to increase resource options available to Air Force family members in order to prevent issues or to increase access. EFMP-M can assist you with finding options when medical or educational needs are not met. We are also the POC for the medical part of the Command Sponsorship application.
