Tax center opens soon Published Jan. 24, 2013 By 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Lakenheath's tax center will open Feb. 12 to assist members of the Liberty Wing with tax filing and preparation. While the center opens Feb. 12, the first ten days will be reserved for those filing the 1040EZ form in the ranks of E-6 and below. The center will open to all personnel Feb. 25. This year, there are three options for customers. Option one is the self service tax center, that offers computers and printers for the use of the H&R Block Home Use program, which is free to active duty and reservists via Military One Source. Option two is also a self service tax center, but reserved for the use of IRS Free File options. This option is available for all ID card holders with an adjusted gross income of less than $57,000. Option three is for those that wish to sit down, via an appointment, with a volunteer tax preparer in person. Eligibility and availability will be determined by the tax center staff. The center is open Mondays through Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. and from noon to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made by emailing the center at 48fw.jatax@lakenheath.af.mil
