CFC ends on a good note Published Jan. 9, 2012 By Senior Airman Tiffany M. Deuel 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The goal for the Combined Federal Campaign, a world-wide charity that supports eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits for federal employees, which lasted from Oct. 3 to Dec. 15, 2011, was not merely met. It was exceeded by $50,000. With a grand total of $250,533.03 raised, Senior Master Sgt. Alvin Holland, 48th Medical Support Squadron Pharmacy Flight superintendent and a CFC coordinator, has a reason to smile. "That is an amazing total and it is $50,000 over our goal," said Holland. "Even during our current financial crisis, the benevolence of the men and women of the 48th Fighter Wing will go a long way to help those who are in need." Aside from the goal being achieved, 19 awards were given to Airmen around the base for doing their part to ensure that the CFC was a success. One such Airman, Staff Sgt. Shawn Martin, 48th FW Safety Office motorcycle safety coordinator and CFC representative for the 48th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, developed a plan that provided unit personnel with information regarding the campaign, led multiple CFC events and was an integral part of his represented unit being the "Top Earning Unit". "I did mass briefings at our monthly commander's call," said Martin. "On top of briefing each flight at their flight calls, I walked around to make contact with each person in the 48th EMS. This year I saw more people that cared than ever before." With this year's campaign over, Holland is thankful for those that made it a success. "Thanks to everyone who chose to donate to this worthy cause and thanks to the group and squadron key workers who served as our point men and women during this event," said Holland.
