DECEMBER EVENTS

Olde English Christmas Fair

Lavenham village in Suffolk will be hosting a Christmas Street Fair Dec. 9 and 10, 2011. There will be lights, carolers, bands, street entertainment, Father Christmas, elves, live reindeer and other entertainment. The fair is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Wreaths across America

To honor those who have spent and will spend holidays away from loved ones and to remember those who never made it home, join the ceremony and wreath laying at Madingley Cemetery on Dec. 10, 2011 at 12 p.m. This is the first time that the event is taking place in England. ANNOUNCEMENTS

AFN Outage

There will be a scheduled AFN outage the week of Dec. 19, 2011. Work is projected to begin on Monday the 19th through Tuesday the 20th but signal could be disrupted intermittently throughout the week. This affects customers who receive signal via local cable. Viewers enjoying AFN via satellite will not be affected and channel 25 on the satellite decoder will still have local AFN-UK information available. For questions or concerns, please contact MSgt Mike Hamill, AFN-U.K. Station Manager, at 226-7060.

Live Christmas tree drop off point

From Dec. 26-Jan 10, live Christmas trees can be dropped off by the base recycling center, building 1146. For more information, contact 226-3990.

Fitness Center hours changing

Effective Dec. 12, 2011, the Fitness Center hours of operation have changed and are as follows:

Monday through Thursday: 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday: 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

RAF Feltwell Shoppette extended hours

The RAF Feltwell Shoppette has extended their hours of operation as follows:

Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday through Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New customer service hours at Finance!

The 48th Comptroller Squadron has new customer service hours. The Customer Service Counter, located on the ground floor of Bldg. 977, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Cashiers Cage, located on the second floor of Bldg. 977, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

New local police number

Local U.K. police forces can now be reached by dialing 101 for non-emergency matters, such as reporting a stolen vehicle, property damage or simply to speak with an officer. The number will be available 24/7 and will connect callers to the police station covering their area. The 999 number will still be available for emergency situations.

London Heathrow Airport shuttle service price change

Due to increased operation costs, the contracted service rate for all official duty passengers on orders will increase from £50 to £60 when traveling to and from RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall and London Heathrow International Airport. Non-duty passengers will still be permitted on a 'space available' no-charge basis.

Department of Defense Education Activity looking for feedback

DODEA is developing a new Community Strategic Plan for 2012-2016 and have launched a feedback website, http://cspfeedback.dodea.edu/ to gather opinions from parents, teachers, military leadership, children and anyone else that is interested.

SOCKS - Spouse On-Line Computer Knowledge and Skills

This is a free Airman and Family Readiness Center program designed to help spouses improve computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photoshop and many other programs. For more information contact the A&FRC at 226-3847 for more information.

Crosswalk Volunteers Needed

The school year has started. Help the students get to school safely! Depending on location, the crosswalks are manned from approximately 7:30 to 8:10 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:10 p.m. To volunteer, contact the school liaison office at 226-5077 or 226-5078.
