OCTOBER EVENTS

Hometown Holiday Greetings

American Forces News broadcasters from RAF Feltwell will be at the RAF Lakenheath Public Affairs Office, Building 1063, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 9, 2011, to record video holiday greetings for Liberty Warriors.

The greetings will be sent to television venues you and your dependents choose (based on zip code) for all your friends and family to enjoy. Liberty Warriors are encouraged to bring their dependents with them.

Each greeting will take 10 to 15 minutes. Military members must be in the uniform of the day. Due to limited space appointments are mandatory and no walk-ins will be accepted.

To schedule an appointment call the 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office at 226-2151 or 01638 522 151. For more information email at 48FW.PA@Lakenheath.af.mil.

Pumpkin Patrol

Trick or Treat will take place in base housing on RAF Lakenheath and RAF Feltwell from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Families on Lakenheath will be able to take their children through the AYA Gate that separates Anglo Housing from Liberty Village during that time.

Off-base Trick or Treat

On Halloween, occasionally groups of young people knock at every door whether they know the residents or not, demanding some sort of gift or payment. For the vulnerable or older members of the community this can be a frightening and intimidating experience, so please follow these simple guidelines to ensure a trouble free evening for all:
· Ensure children are accompanied by a responsible adult.
· Explain how vulnerable people can be frightened by an unexpected group calling at their door on a dark evening.
· Only knock at houses where you know you will be welcome.
· Respect the "Please No Trick or Treat" notice where it is displayed.
Download a black and white 'No Trick or Treat' poster.

New local police number
Local U.K. police forces can now be reached by dialing 101 for non-emergency matters, such as reporting a stolen vehicle, property damage or simply to speak with an officer. The number will be available 24/7 and will connect callers to the police station covering their area. The 999 number will still be available for emergency situations.
