Core Value Portrayed: "Service Before Self"

How does the individual portray that core value?
Kruse is an irreplaceable member to the Air Force, the 56th Rescue Squadron and pararescue. He portrays "Service Before Self" in his actions by striving to be a strong, competent leader; a proficient pararescueman and caring more about the people around him, than himself. During pararescue training, he was severely injured when he was hit by a vehicle, breaking his neck and back. Despite this, he recovered and completed his training.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?
I knew that my grandfather would be proud. The Air Force has given me successful options that I would not have ever thought possible.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of?
When I found out I passed the National Paramedic Registry test. I felt incredibly proud when I called my mom and could say, "Hi, my name is Josh Kruse and I am a paramedic. How I can help you?"

What are your personal and/or professional goals?
To become a sports doctor so I can help people recover from tragic injuries and one day become a father.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The people I work with. I would not have made it as far as I am now if it was not for the strong brotherhood that is felt throughout the pararersecue community.
