The food is hot, the drinks are cold and football fans are ready to go. Even half a world away, it's still Super Bowl Sunday.

For almost 200 fans, the Liberty Club gave them an opportunity to watch Super Bowl XLV, an opportunity they may not have had otherwise.

"My friends and I had planned to watch the game at a buddy's house, but he had to work so it was really great to be able to see the game here," said Senior Airman Scott Albert, 48th Munitions Squadron Conventional Maintenance crew member.

Fans from both sides showed up to root for their respective football teams.

"I have been a [football] fan since I was 5 years old, when my dad started taking me to Steelers games," said Airman Albert.

At the end of the night the Packers won with a score of 31-25, winning their fourth Super Bowl championship. This was the eighth time the Steelers have played in the Super Bowl and the fifth time for the Packers.

"I rooted for the Packers. 'G' stands for greatness," said Zack Rose, vehicle operator for The Great Little Pizza Place.

Due to the time difference between the U.K. and the U.S., the game did not begin until 11 p.m. Because of the late start, some squadrons allowed Airmen to report to work later than usual.

"It was nice that our squadron supervisor granted the shop [permission] to come in [later]," said Airman 1st Class William Palazzola, 748th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Aircraft Armament apprentice. "Watching the Super Bowl is very much a tradition for me."

The Liberty Club has hosted a Super Bowl event every year since its opening, and their goal has always been to give a good experience to all who attend.

"I think it's a great venue for the Airmen on base," said Mr. Dennis Hanson, Liberty Club manager. "We had a lot of streamers, and the bars were open. With all the people, we try to create the ambience to make them all feel like they are there at the game."
