Cybersurety: Anti-virus software

  • Published
For years the Air Force has been providing free anti-virus software for home use to authorized personnel. However, many personnel remain unaware of this benefit, simply do not use it, and/or don't understand that not using it puts the Air Force Global Information Grid at risk.

As many more people perform official work from home and use Microsoft Outlook Web Access it provides a means for the unsuspecting user to attach a file to an e-mail that has been infected by some sort of malicious logic, potentially infecting the entire AF GIG.

To obtain this free anti-virus software, ask your Information Assurance Officer for more information or contact your help desk personnel. Another alternative for a safer way to conduct official business at home is to ask the help desk about obtaining Virtual Private Network client software installed on a government laptop for use when at home or on the road.
