Cybersurety: P@ssw0rd Secur1ty Published Oct. 7, 2010 ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The basic idea behind a password is it's a key to unlock a virtual door to your computer, e-mail, bank account, etc. If you're the only one who knows your password, then you're the only one who can access your information. What is less understood is what makes a password strong and how users can accidentally or intentionally make their passwords weak. The security of a password depends on length and complexity. The idea is that the more things a password could possibly be, the harder it is to crack it.
