Lakenheath Community Bulletins Published Sept. 16, 2010 ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- USAFE Finance Customer Service Survey In an effort to evaluate trends and customers financial needs, USAFE is conducting a survey to measure how well USAFE Finance Offices are providing customer service and how well on-line tools and processes are working. They are seeking maximum participation and especially looking for customer comments and suggestions. The survey should take less than five minutes to complete, and this critical feedback will be used to make necessary changes to the financila services model in USAFE. This joint-base event is being held in conjunction with the Youth Center's 2010 Worldwide Day of Play. EDIS will have classes and workshops for dependents who are a part of the EFMP as well as workshops for the adults that will include stress management, nutrition, yoga and fitness and massage classes. Men's Varsity Basketball Try Outs The fitness and sports center will be holding men's varsity basketball tryouts 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20-23 and Sept. 27-30. Call 226-3607 for more information Crosswalk Volunteers Needed With the start of the new school year everyone in the community, to include military, U.S./MOD civilian personnel, parents and contractors, need to ensure that children are kept safe while walking to and from school. Five volunteers are needed twice a day to ensure coverage throughout the high-traffic areas. The crosswalks are located near the Lords-Walk housing area, the Housing Office, the roundabout by Liberty Intermediate School and the Lakenheath Elementary School roundabout. Depending on location, the crosswalks are manned from approximately 7:30 to 8:10 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:10 p.m. To volunteer, contact the School Liaison Office at 226-5077/5078 or email 48MSG.CCL@lakenheath.af.mil. Trespass Notice The 48th Security Forces Squadron Combat Arms firing range complex that supports RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall is located at Building 230, RAF Feltwell. The range complex is in the southwest corner of the base and is surrounded by a perimeter fence clearly marked by danger signs. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. When firing is in progress, red range flags or red flashing beacons will be visible from all range complex entrance points. Unauthorized entry to the range complex is illegal and hazardous due to gunfire and airborne lead particles within the complex. DANTES Changes Due to budget cuts, DANTES will no longer fund retests on CLEP and DSST exams. Current exam fees are $80 per DSST, and $120 per CLEP. DANTES will also stop funding certification exams as of October 2011. Information regarding importing vehicles to the UK The DVLA no longer requires military members to obtain an original hard copy of their insurance certificates for imported registration purposes. Personnel can now print their insurance certificates by accessing their policy online; however, faxed, photocopied or scanned copies are still not accepted.
