Lakenheath Community Bulletins Published Aug. 12, 2010 ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Royal Mail Parking Lot Closure The Royal Mail parking lot adjacent to the Post Office will be closed from the afternoon of Aug. 13 through the evening of Aug. 18 for repaving. The main parking lot will remain open. Community Bank Late Opening Community Bank will be open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 to allow for staff training. Duxford American Air Day Imperial War Museum Duxford will hold its annual American Air Day Aug. 20, highlighting the airpower abilities of the U.S. Air Force and its historic link to Duxford Air Field, which dates back to 1918. The show will consist of demonstrations, displays and flyovers of aircraft and equipment from RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. Admission is free for members attending in uniform and discounted tickets will be available from Information, Tickets and Travel. Gate 1 Canopy Construction Construction for a canopy at Gate 1 is slated to begin Aug. 21. Work will be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends through Sept. 19. Personnel should expect diversions and delays on those weekend and are encouraged to use Nathan Gate (Gate 2) during these times. Boy Scout 'Meet and Greet' Boy Scouts of America Troop 219 will hold a "Meet and Greet" potluck barbecue at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at Defenders Park next to Taco Bell. The Boy Scout Program is designed for young men aged between 11 and 18 to learn about various skill sets through Merit Badge work, outdoor activities, and leadership roles. Troop 219 is part of the Mayflower District in the Transatlantic Council. FMO Closure The Furnishings Management Office located on RAF Feltwell will be closed Aug. 30 for the British Bank Holiday. Trespass Notice The 48th Security Forces Squadron Combat Arms firing range complex that supports RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall is located at Building 230, RAF Feltwell. The range complex is in the southwest corner of the base and is surrounded by a perimeter fence clearly marked by danger signs. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. When firing is in progress, red range flags or red flashing beacons will be visible from all range complex entrance points. Unauthorized entry to the range complex is illegal and hazardous due to gunfire and airborne lead particles within the complex. DANTES Changes Due to budget cuts, DANTES will no longer fund retests on CLEP and DSST exams. Current exam fees are $80 per DSST, and $120 per CLEP. DANTES will also stop funding certification exams as of October 2011.
