All around the Air Force, Airmen are testing under the new PT test standards and starting off the first year of semi-annual testing.

The Liberty Wing is no different and is feeling out the new standards and striving to meet and exceed them.

Almost 200 Liberty Warriors have taken the PT test under the new standards and the test has proven to be a challenge.

"The passing percentage is currently 76 percent", said Richard Lyons, 48th Force Support Squadron fitness assessment cell lead.

The passing percentage has fallen 97 percent since the start of the new standards.

The biggest obstacle with the new PT test is the standard requiring Airmen to meet a minimum in every category.

"Sit-ups have been the most common road block with 13 percent of the failures being members not reaching the minimum", said Jennifer Sibble, 48th Force Support Squadron fitness assessment cell.

Mr. Lyons said filming yourself doing your calisthenics can improve your score.

"Nobody is going to criticize you more than you", he said. "So if you film yourself for two minutes doing your push-ups and sit-ups, and you will see all the areas you need to improve."

It is very common for the test takers to come in uneasy, said Ms. Sibble.

"Don't be nervous when you come to take your PT test. Calm your nerves before you come," she said.

Mr. Lyons also shared his thoughts on how being prepared helps with your PT test.

"A big tip for test takers is to come prepared", he said. "Know what your requirements are before your test date, and train in accordance with them."
