Air Force Portal to require CAC reader

ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Starting in January, a Common Access Card reader must be purchased by servicemembers to log into the Air Force Portal and Air Force Knowledge Now web sites if access is desired away from a military network.

A CAC reader can be purchased at the base exchange for around $25. The price for a CAC reader will vary between $15 to $25 if shopping online.

Servicemembers will need to install the ActivClient CAC software after the purchase of a card reader. This can be downloaded from the Air Force Portal homepage.
