Hazardous material training Published Nov. 10, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Eboni Knox 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE Lakenheath, England -- The 48th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Emergency Service Flight conducts hazardous material technician training to elevate emergency response capabilities. The training is administered to bioenvironmental engineers, fire emergency service personnel and the emergency management flight. In order to acquire their certifications, members are evaluated in different test scenarios on communication and how efficient they work together as a team. The training consists of four levels of certification: hazardous materials awareness, operations, hazardous material technician and ultimately, HazMat incident commander. This program has already issued 36 certifications with the goal of training all response teams to the technician level.
