Lakenheath 2009 CFC campaign begins Published Oct. 7, 2009 By Tech. Sgt. Christopher Campbell 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The Combined Federal Campaign, established to support and promote charity through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for others, started Oct. 5 and will run to Dec 4. Federal employees can choose to pay by allotments, one-time cash or check donations or online via credit card. There are many different charities from which to choose. "The CFC includes U.S. and international charities that cover areas such as humanities and education, health, medical research, youth development and spiritual development; just to name a few," said Capt. Peter Emerton, CFC community project officer. "A pledge to a CFC charity is a great way to support your community. Take time to review the charities associated with CFC, and make an informed decision to give." One difference in CFC donations overseas and at stateside assignments is the Family Support and Youth Program. "Hundred percent of the contributions to FSYP are returned to overseas installations," said Master Sgt. Riza Keenan, CFC alternate community project officer. "Contributors overseas benefit from them directly." Military members are not the only ones who can donate to the CFC. "The base exchange and commissary support the CFC," said Capt. Jules Perrie, 48th Mission Support Group CFC representative. "They have donated in previous years, and we appreciate their participation." Unit representatives are assigned to provide 100 percent informed opportunity to personnel within their units to let them know about the campaign, and to provide more guidance on how to contribute. Capt. Emerton explained, "The next best place for information on the campaign, in addition to our CFC representatives, is at www.cfcoverseas.org." The 48th Fighter Wing was able to raise $231,000 for the CFC last year. For more information about the CFC Overseas, contact a unit representative. - 48th Fighter Wing Staff Agencies - Tech. Sgt.
