A ride to remember Published Sept. 23, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Eboni Knox 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- More than 50 people grouped together on RAF Mildenhall to pay their respects to a somber occasion. Servicemembers, retirees, dependants and civilians shined up their hogs and took to the streets of RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. The POW/MIA Motorcycle Ride, which took place Sept. 15, traveled through two local villages and stopped to pay their respects at four different memorials along the way. "This was the first year I have been involved with the motorcycle ride, but I have to say, I'm really impressed with the turn out," said Master Sgt. Tammy Turnbull, POW/MIA Week Lakenheath coordinator. "I'm glad that we had so many people come out to pay their respects to military members who not only earned it, but deserve it."
