The 48th Operations Group hosted a spouse orientation day Sep. 4 in order to provide them with insight into the day-to-day jobs and mission of their husbands and wives.

Spouses were provided squadron tours, static displays of aircraft and equipment, a visit to the simulators, air traffic control tower and radar approach control facility and barbecue. Some spouses were also given the opportunity to fly in a KC-135 Stratotanker from RAF Mildenhall to observe the aerial refueling of an F-15. Others were afforded HH-60G Pave Hawk rides, and a few took high speed taxis in the F-15 here.

During the high-speed taxis, spouses were required to take rides with other husbands and wives.

"This is a safety precaution to mitigate, God forbid something were to happen, that the husband and wife weren't in the same aircraft together," said Capt. Eric 'Opis' Waddell, 48th Operations Support Squadron Chief of Wing Scheduling.
