Maria Wallace, 48th Operations Support Squadron radar approach control watch supervisor, was nominated for the Liberty spotlight by her chain of command because she practices the Air Force core value of "Excellence in All We Do". As a training team leader, she always sets the standard by personal example. Sergeant Wallace does not merely point her trainees in the correct direction, but rather walks in front of them carrying a torch! Sergeant Wallace demands the best from herself and those she supervises and consistently produces sterling results. What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of? While serving a six month deployment to Ali Air Base Iraq, Sergeant Wallace led her Air Traffic Control crew thru an 18-day period of total radar failure. Sergeant Wallace's skills and leadership enabled her to ensure uninterrupted air traffic control service to over 5,000 civil and combat operations. What are your personal and career goals? To complete the last three remaining credits for my Bachelor of Science. My personal goals are to live each day to the fullest and have no regrets; see every mistake as a lesson learned and view each problem as an opportunity.
