Community awareness bulletin: protest activities

Effective March 27, demonstrations are being sponsored by the following organizations: Stop the War Coalition, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, The British Muslim Initiative and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Protesters are expected to arrive in London March 28, and remain in London until April 3, when they will travel to Strasbourg France to protest at the NATO summit. Unannounced protests may start at any time.

All 48th Fighter Wing personnel and family members are advised to avoid these areas due to the potential dangerous or unsafe environments that could occur: 

April 1 at 2 p.m.: U.S. Embassy, Grosvenor Square 

April 2 at 11 a.m.: Excel Centre (London)

Expires April 3.

Quick Tips for Safety and Security
All personnel are reminded to increase situational awareness at all times and to remember safe and simple individual protective measures such as: 

1. Be alert to your surroundings and cautious of your conversation while utilizing public transportation or in public venues. 

2. Avoid demonstration areas or spontaneous rallies. 

3. Maintain 100% passport/ID card accountability. 

4. Notify your Chain of Command of travel plans ensuring they have an accurate means of contacting you in case of emergency. 

5. Do not display large sums of money. 

6. Try to stay low key as much as possible. 

7. Don't dress in a manner in which you stand out.
