RAF Lakenheath opens Page Community Activities Center Published March 10, 2009 By Sara Harr 48th Force Support Squadron ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The new Page Community Activities Center opened here Feb. 27 with base-wide fanfare and approval. Parents and children arrived in mass to utilize the all-new parent-child fitness room known as the AmaZone, where children can play while parents are utilizing state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Additional amenities include the re-opened skating rink, centralized teen programming and youth sports. Programs will be geared toward the entire population, making this RAF Lakenheath's largest community center. These new activities and areas come as a direct result of focus groups and surveys conducted by the 48th Force Support Squadron. "Our goal for the Page Community Activities Center is to meet Lakenheath community needs," says Mr. Chris McIntire, 48th FSS family support flight director. "A fine example is the large family games room that will be open seven days a week and is free to all eligible users meeting both family and single Airmen's needs." The family games room boasts several video game systems, as well as pool, ping pong and air hockey tables. The skating rink will be open Fridays, 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 2 to 5 p.m. Private party bookings can be reserved Saturdays and Sundays starting in April. The family fitness room offers an array of fitness equipment and free weights with a secure pre-toddler area, plasma screen TVs and will soon provide live footage of the AmaZone play area. "The 48th FSS has listened to our customer feedback and the Page Community Activities Center meets the criteria our community requires for their leisure and family time," said Mr. McIntire. "We are confident our customers will be satisfied with the new programming and availability. We welcome everyone to join the experience of the newest and greatest addition to the 48th FSS and the 48th Fighter Wing." For more information, visit www.48fss.com.
