USO hits Lakenheath Published Jan. 7, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Nathan Gallahan 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs RAF LAKENHEATH, England -- The United Service Organizations held a show at RAF Lakenheath Dec. 20 drawing a crowd of more than 1,600 people. The six entertainers, Kid Rock, Lewis Black, Kellie Pickler, Tichina Arnold, Kathleen Madigan and John Bowman sang, danced and joked throughout the 90 minute performance. "The show was awesome," said Rudy Garcia, a 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle dispatcher and driver. "It's kind of weird to see them in person after seeing them in magazines and television ... this really makes me feel as though we're appreciated." For some of the performers, the experience was equally appealing. "The response has been extraordinary," said comedian Lewis Black. "I've been touring for 15 years, and the audience all over are terrific, but there's a certain type of energy that you get in front of these folks. The level of appreciation is extraordinary." Coming directly from shows in the Middle East and Europe , RAF Lakenheath was the last stop of the tour before heading back to the United States
