The Logistics Readiness Squadron soccer team defeated the Security Forces Squadron, 3-0, in their first playoff game toward the soccer championship for RAF Lakenheath July 21.

Both teams flaunted fancy foot work across the field, but LRS took the lead early in the game by scoring a goal within 10 minutes of the first half.

The second goal scored by LRS was called a "no goal" by the referee because it was shot within the goalie box. However, SFS goalie Geoffrey Marrott demonstrated integrity first and announced that the kick was made from the outside and momentum carried him in. LRS was up two goals at the end of the first.

Tempers began to rise between the SFS teammates in the second half as more attempted goals were over shot and soared above the net.

LRS was able to do it again, making one last goal before the end of the game securing the final score.

Ashley Trischler, LRS team, said she was happy about their win, but she was not confident about the outcome before the game.

"We're pretty evenly matched," she said. "They are almost as good of a team as us."

Nevertheless, almost is the key word because LRS walked away with the victory.
