The 48th Services Squadron finished renovating the Knights Table Dining Facility to update its facilities and better serve its customers.

The Knights Table Dining Facility was built in 1965 and the years of its use were slowly adding up. As Master Sgt John Agonoy points out, "The normal wear and tear of the facility takes its toll."

The renovation started in 2003. Defense Estates and 48th Civil Engineer Squadron planners gathered to start the planning of the funds for the new renovation. Due to a change in the fire code, the fire suppression system in both serving lines did not meet the requirements; the plan was then put on hold.

The renovation lasted eight weeks and the total of the renovation was around $500,000. Due to strategic planning the project was finished on time, June 30th.

The benefits vary widely between the customers and employees. The dining facility now has up-to-date equipment and a new filtration system, along with the installation of sinks to prevent constant travel from the kitchen area. Additionally, the new serving lines provide the same capability on both sides, with a sandwich bar on either side.
