This year's Air Force Community Assessment Survey for Airmen and their families kicked-off April 28.

The survey is used to gauge how well programs and policies affecting military families are working.

According to the community assessment Web site, the survey is designed to assist the Family Support Center, Family Advocacy Program, Health and Wellness Center, Mental Health Centers, Family Member Programs, and Chaplains in assessing community results and improving services to better meet the needs of service members and their families. On the website there is more informational resources for the 2008 Air Force Community Assessment Survey. The site is http://poc.afcasurvey.com/.

"The survey is important because it gives a voice to spouses of active duty Airmen," said Mark Killin, 48th Medical Group Family Advocacy Outreach Manager. He said their goal is for 60 percent of Airmen to complete the survey and 25 percent of spouses. He added that, personally, he'd like to see the spouses "beat" the Airmen.

Mr. Killin said it's important to not only talk about things that are wrong, but also about things that are right. He said he's eager to see the new results and refocus on certain programs, if necessary.

"We can't solve all the problems, but people can still have their voices heard," Mr. Killin said.

Airmen selected to participate in the survey will receive an email with login details and instructions. Spouses will receive a card with a login.

"All spouses can go online and fill out the survey," Mr. Killin said. He said Family Advocacy will have information booths at the Lakenheath Base Exchange and the commissary. The Web site for spouses is http://spouseafcasurvey.com/
