British Post Office

At the British Post Office, Airmen can pay everything from gas and water bills to telephone and mail orders. The post office also has the ability to cash and deposit checks to select banks, as well as issue, redeem money orders and exchange currencies. In addition to handling money for Airmen, the British Post Office also sells a variety of insurance, from travel, to car and home insurance. Airmen can also get a road tax license issued, as well as a selection of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency application forms. For more information, visit the British Post Office.

Parent Open School Community Forum
A Parent Open School Community Forum will be held April 29 at the Liberty Intermediate School Library from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The goal is to help families meet the challenges of transition by providing support information.

Survivor Benefit Plan
A military retiree is guaranteed a monthly income for life. However, military retired pay stops on the date the retiree dies. The Survivor Benefit Plan was created to protect widowed spouses and dependent children from complete loss of income. 48th Medical Group Closures
The 48th MDG will be closed April 4, 11 and May 5. Services will be limited to emergency care only.

Financial issue
Servicemembers may have noticed a base pay fluctuation between January and March. The fluctuation is due to retroactive pay increase that did not take place until February. For more information, call finance customer service at 226-1851.

Passport price raise
The U.S. Department of State has increased their prices for tourist passports.

Prices:
- Adult Tourist Passport (initial issue): $100
- Adult Tourist Passport (renewal): $75
- Minor Tourist Passport (age 15 and under): $85

Taxes
The RAF Lakenheath Tax Center is open by appointment only. The hours of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 226-1807.

An Education 101 seminar will be held April 21 at 10 a.m. in building 948, room 202. The course is designed to teach the basics of what is involved in voluntary education.

Arts and Crafts Classes 

Kid's Kraft Day

A kid's craft day will be held April 19 for three hour-and-a-half sessions. The sessions are from 10 to 11:30 a.m., noon to 1:30 p.m., and 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sign ups are free and will be accepted until the day of the event or until all spaces are filled.

Kid's Jewelry Making Class
Children can create their own jewelry at 48th Avenue April 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Choose from a variety of beads, foam, wooden flowers and heart shapes. Parents must stay with children younger than 12 years of age. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Spaces are limited. Sign up by April 10. Family Bingo
A family bingo day will be held at the 48th Avenue April 13 at noon. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. For more information, call 226-4884.

Late Niter at the Liberty Club

Turn off the TV Week
The Lakenheath Youth Center is planning a week of activities that are designed to get people off the couch and participating in healthy activities April 21 to 26. For more information, call 226-5437.

A mold-pouring class will be held April 22 and 23 and May 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Month of the Military Child Fair
The Lakenheath Youth Center will celebrate the finale of Month of the Military Child April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon with several activities focused on children. For more information, call 226-5437. 

2008 Car Show
The 2008 Car Show is April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To sign up, fill out the entry form at the Auto Hobby Complex. This event is free to all DoD ID card holders. The car show will take place in the 48th Medical Group parking lot. Prizes will be given for best in show, best paint, best custom interior and ugliest car.

Craft Fair 2008
The Lakenheath Arts and Crafts Center is looking for vendors to sell craft items at the 2008 Craft Fair, April 26. Call the Arts and Crafts Center at 226-2194 for more information.

Basic Crochet, two week course
A basic crochet course will be held May 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will run for two weeks.

Basic Digital Imaging, three week course
A basic digital imaging course will be held May 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and will run for three weeks.

Queen for a Day Mystery Trip
Lakenheath Outdoor Recreation will hold an outing for mothers and children May 11 to the Norfolk coast. Lunch will be provided. The sign-up deadline is May 5. For more information, call 226-2146.
