Volunteers needed for Earth Week events Published March 28, 2008 ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Earth Week is celebrated the week of Earth Day, April 22. This is an international event and RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall have formed a joint committee of volunteers to organize events for everyone to take part in. A wide variety of events, both on base and in the local community, are planned. Volunteers are needed to help with these events and points of contact for each event are listed below: Conservation Projects - West Stow Anglo Saxon village and nature reserve - April 19, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families welcome. POC: Hazel Neal, 226-2620. - Clean-up of Maid's Cross Hill (Site of Special Scientific Interest adjacent to RAF Lakenheath) - April 19, 9 a.m. to noon. Families welcome. POC: Dave Nutt, 238-5836. - Tree rescue at local community woodland near Moreton Hall, Bury St. Edmunds - April 27, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Families welcome. POC: Jean Dennett, 226-3990.
