Street light setback

COMPLAINT:

I live on Lancaster Road on RAF Feltwell and four of the six street lights have been out on my street since January 14, 2008. I know at least two work orders have been placed to have the lights fixed, but to no avail. In fact, the last time I called to check on the status, I was told that street lights are not a priority.

Working street lights are a priority to the people who live on this street and have to be outside in the morning and evening when it is dark.

RESPONSE:

Thank you for the inquiry regarding street lighting on RAF Feltwell. Please rest assured the safety of our members and families is not only our 48th Civil Engineer Squadron's highest priority, but mine as well.

Unfortunately, as in many infrastructure issues, when our civil engineers investigated the inoperative streetlights on Lancaster Road, they discovered it wasn't due to burned out bulbs, but rather to a faulty electrical cable controlled by the commercial electrical provider, EDF Energy. Our team worked with EDF Energy to make necessary cable repairs on Feb 26-27 with full lighting being restored on Feb 28. Additionally, we partnered with EDF Energy to allow 48th CES future access control of this cable, which should allows our engineers to more quickly troubleshoot and make repairs should this cable ever have problems in the future.

Once again, thank you for your inquiry and please notify 48th CES immediately if you notice problems with street lighting, because a faulty light could be an indicator of a bigger problem.
