In addition to being one of the 48 FW's premier air traffic control watch supervisors, Sergeant Spencer also serves as administrator for the tower simulator system. This system links 18 separate computers and six 72-in projection monitors to recreate a mirror image of RAF Lakenheath's airfield and flying patterns. Because of the intense detail and complexity associated with this system, operating and maintaining the TSS is an extremely demanding task requiring dedication and attention to detail. Sergeant Spencer's performance as TSS Administrator is nothing short of outstanding. This simulator, valued at more than $1 million, is the 48 FW's primary ATC training device and, with a great deal of assistance from Sergeant Spencer, helps ensure top quality air traffic control tower service for America's Liberty Wing.
