The 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron and the 493rd Fighter Squadron teamed up to educate 46 logistics Airmen on how their hard work contributes to the wing and the Air Force mission during an appreciation event Dec. 20.

These Airmen worked long hours to ensure success during hard-hitting year of inspections. 48th LRS leadership organized this event to show LRS Airmen that their work has paid off. The Airmen were given a wing mission brief, a 493rd FS tour and an F-15 C Eagle tour.

According to Mr. Jose Pina, 48th LRS vehicle operations flight chief, keeping young Airmen fully briefed and orientated on what it going on in our Air Force and explaining to them how they fit into the mission makes them more focused on their jobs.

"I liked getting into the jet and learning about the specifics of the F-15," said Airman 1st Class Sarah Ingram, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron. "It was nice to see how our jobs help the jets fly and keep the mission going."

What started out as a small idea turn out to be very educational and exciting day for everyone, Mr. Pina said.

"We wanted them to feel appreciated and hopefully the afternoon and tours instilled some team pride for the wing's mission," said Capt. Gretchen Yule, 48th LRS fuels flight commander.
