Everyone knows the story of the glass slipper. This Friday and Saturday a Lakenheath acting troupe will put a twist on the old story to entertain the Liberty Community at the 48th Avenue Community Center.

The Union Jack Players are performing Cinderella or how Pipsqueak the Mouse became a Stallion at the 48th Ave Dec. 14 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 15 at noon.

The Union Jack Players are an acting troupe comprised of servicemembers and civilians. The acting troupe was created to give Liberty Members an avenue to act and be creative. The Union Jack Players have been performing on base for more than two years.

"This is the second play I have directed through the Union Jack Players and the play was a lot of fun to direct," said Staff Sgt. Kami Demnyan, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron and play director. "The play is quite funny and full of jokes and one-liners that will get the crowd laughing."

The play, which is one of two plays the players put on a year, is a post-modern take on an old classic.

"The play features Pipsqueak the talking mouse and his buddy, Moose the mouse, as they spin a tale complete with dragons, witches, slapstick and a Prince Charming who was almost Prince Dave," said Sergeant Demnyan. "Everyone still gets to live happily ever after, but you'll never look at Cinderella the same again."

The audience is not the only people that enjoy the troupes many performances.

"We really enjoy working with the players, said Anthony Marrow, 48th Services Squadron community center assistant programmer. "Every time they perform, it is always funny and great for the whole family."

Tickets cost $5 in advance and $7 at the door. For more information, call the 48th Avenue at 226-4884.
