The 2007 RAF Lakenheath Holiday Bazaar is Sept. to Sept. 29 at Hangar 6 and will house carnival rides, food booths and a wide variety of other services.

More than 85 vendors from around Europe and various RAF Lakenheath squadrons and organizations will sell various items including antiques, furniture, jewelry and more.

The holiday bazaar is run by the Officers' and Civilian Spouses Club and the Enlisted and Civilian Spouses Club as an annual fundraiser.

"The holiday bazaar is our biggest fundraiser of the year," said Kimberly Jansen, ECSC vice-president.

The bazaar generates more than $70,000 to the military and civilian communities each year. More than $75,000 was raised at last year's holiday bazaar.

Many different organizations benefit from donations given by the OCSC and the ECSC.

"We provided funds to support base programs such as Project CHEER, the Health and Wellness Center, Good Samaritan and base quarterly and yearly awards functions," said Chrissy Jenkins, OCSC president.

"I think it is a fantastic event," said Ms. Jansen. "This is the event of the year for the community to get together, from enlisted to officer, from wives to husbands and from children to teachers, everyone helps put this together."

People can contribute by volunteering their time through-out the weekend helping local and international vendors or by providing support for various committees such as hospitality and finance.

"The weekend requires approximately 400 volunteers to succeed," said Mrs. Jenkins.

The holiday bazaar is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sept. 28; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 29; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 30. Carnival rides and many of the food booths are open 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 28 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 29. For more information, contact Chrissy Jenkins, volunteer co-chair, at 01638 534 956.
