People on RAF Lakenheath took advantage of the United States Air Forces in Europe's Extreme Summer campaign June 1 through Aug. 31.

According to the 48th Services Squadron, RAF Lakenheath surpassed the 2006 participation by more than 200 percent with 1,890 participants and exceeded the USAFE goal by more than 300 participants.

RAF Lakenheath turned out 10 winners, including the grand prize winner Bobbilyn Medley, who won a 2007 Dodge Caliber.

Another winner from RAF Lakenheath was Tech. Sgt. Jason Gagnon, 48th Communications Squadron, NCOIC of the server farm. Sergeant Gagnon was the first place winner of a NASCAR VIP trip in October. His trip includes airfare, rental car, hotel, VIP seating and pit passes.

"I think the program is an excellent opportunity to get involved in summer activities," Sergeant Gagnon said.

He said he earned most of his points participating in sporting activities such as softball and golf. He also earned points by renting equipment from outdoor recreation.

"The turnout was good this year and I hope more people get involved next year," Sergeant Gagnon said.

Participation by members of the 48th Fighter Wing not only earned them prizes, but made this year's Extreme Summer a success.
