The 48th Medical Operations Squadron Family Practice Flight offers Airmen and their families a wide variety of services to take care of their daily health care needs.

The clinic handles medical issues in active duty military, dependants and retirees ranging from preventative health assessments to the diabetes.

"In addition to routine healthcare procedures, we perform minor surgical procedures such as wart removals and in grown toenail removals," said Capt. Nickita Council, 48th MDOS nurse.

The Family Practice Flight see's more than 180 patients a day from RAF's Lakenheath, Mildenhall, Alconbury and other bases all over the area.

"The Family Practice Clinic plays a large role in ensuring the base populous receives quality care when they need it. Once their health is restored, we take measures to ensure they remain healthy," said Master Sgt. Carlton Lewis, 48th MDOS Family Practice Clinic NCOIC.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday by appointment from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a few exceptions. The last Thursday of each month the clinic opens at 9 a.m. due to mandatory medical readiness training. The 2nd Friday of each month the clinic closes at noon for flight meetings and training.

"It is our job to take care of the basic health care management," said Captain Council. "A big part of our job is also preventing chronic illness."

There are different types of appointments at the family practice clinic. Appointments can be scheduled in advance or on a walk-in basis. Depending on the severity of the issue, a same-day appointment can be made.
