Personnel flight briefs new evaluation changes Published Aug. 7, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. J. LaVoie 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs RAF LAKENHEATH, England -- The 48th Fighter Wing's Mission Support Squadron Military Personnel Flight is holding two briefings in the base theater Wednesday, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., to explain the new Air Force evaluation changes. "The briefing is open anyone who wants to get information about the new evaluation changes," said Capt. Sid Squires, 48th MSS. The briefing will discuss the new enlisted and officer evaluation systems. According to Air Force Personnel System officials, their evaluation has not undergone a major change since the early 1990's. The new EPRs require evaluators to provide comments on each performance area, and now includes the evaluation of physical fitness. "With both the OPR and EPR, we will now document adherence to Air Force fitness standards," said an AFPC official. "Our experiences as an expeditionary Air Force have proven that formalizing how Airmen are maintaining fitness standards on evaluations is long overdue." The new fitness rating has three standards: meets, does not meet and exempt. The marking is based on the current fitness test as of the closeout of the report, even if the test is outside the reporting period. The new forms also allow for digital signing. "The digital signature capability is leveraging technology that will improve processing time and allow electronic flow, this may cause some apprehension because not everyone has the same access to a computer...but in today's AEF environment, we must take every opportunity to use technology to our advantage" said Captain Squires. The digital signature will be applied using a common access card. Once applied, the digital signature locks the comments and ratings of the evaluator and dates the form. For more information on the new evaluation system, Airmen can attend a briefing at the base theater, or go to http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/.
