Many people think of the base chapel as Sunday worship service only, but at the RAF Lakenheath chapel, there are many programs and activities to fuel anyone's spiritual side.

The base chapel recognizes that worship, community and spiritual fitness are key elements of Air Force readiness.

Sunday school, youth ministries and single's fellowship groups are a large part of what the base chapel is all about. But there are many other ways Liberty families can interact such as Protestant or Catholic men and women of the chapel clubs, Club Beyond youth program or Café Decurro, a young adult ministry focusing on single Airmen.

"Now that we live closer to the chapel, I have become more involved through the hospitality and sisterhood groups," said Misty Folger, spouse of Staff Sergeant David Folger of the 48th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. "I enjoyed the British church we went to but I have more in common with military spouses," said Mrs. Folger.

"These groups as well as the Protestant and Catholic men and women of the chapel also help out tremendously at Café Decurro by cooking meals and volunteering," said Chaplain (Maj) Calvin Dixon of the RAF Lakenheath chapel. "Café Decurro is an excellent place for young single Airmen to enjoy an alcohol-free atmosphere. There is a variety of things such as a large screen television for movies with comfy couches, free cappuccino and video games. We invite young single Airmen to join us and encourage volunteers."

Café Decurro is open Monday through Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and is an excellent way to get out of the dorm room and meet new people.

Chaplains are not only located at the base chapel; they are also embedded on the flight line and hospital. Many times Chaplains host burger burns on the flight line for troops who are deploying and interact in many activities base wide. Chaplains are intergraded into squadrons offering spiritual support and an outlet for Liberty Warriors to talk if the need should ever arise.

There are many activities and events at the RAF Lakenheath Base Chapel providing opportunities to interact and meet new people. More importantly, the base chapel assists the wing in accomplishing its mission by ensuring Liberty Warriors are spiritually fit to fight.
