Lighting at Feltwell Shopette

QUESTION:
I am writing regarding a problem with lighting on RAF Feltwell. There are 10 lamp posts completely out on the two roads surrounding the shopette. With so much darkness during the winter months, it is quite dangerous walking to and from the shopette and around the area, especially when people walk their pets, kids play and walk to and from school. I notified to the shopette manager, and he said he had already complained several times, but no one would come fix the lights. I was told several other people had commented as well. I contacted the housing office and spoke with a gentleman who said he would put in the appropriate request, but there was no money available.

This has been some time ago now and they still aren't fixed. I think this is extremely dangerous and it seems ridiculous it should take several months for the lights to be fixed. I enjoy living on Feltwell, but sometimes feel like the red-headed step-child. In addition to the lights being out for so long, the television cable has been out in the community center and gym for several months. Again, we were told there just isn't any money to fix it. It sometimes feels like Feltwell is forgotten about. I finally resorted to the action line since no one else has been able to remedy the situation.

ANSWER:
Thank you for your concerns regarding lighting at RAF Feltwell. I can confirm our 48th Civil Engineer Squadron recently undertook a streetlight survey at RAF Feltwell and are currently replacing streetlight lamps located on Oxford, Provost and Harvard Roads and also repairing light fixtures damaged in recent high winds. Lamps have also been replaced at the Community Center and school parking lot, and a contractor scheduled to repair an underground cable fault to reinstate lights on Sculthorpe, Markham and Mildenhall Roads. RAF Feltwell is a great place to live, and I encourage you to call CE Customer Service at 226-2255 to report further concerns, and so we can continue to maintain our base facilities to the highest standards.
