Two-week period of night flying at RAF Lakenheath

  • Published
  • 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs

The 48th Fighter Wing will be conducting night flying operations beginning Nov. 1-4, and again Nov. 7-10.

During these dates, communities in East Anglia and around the United Kingdom may see or hear U.S. aircraft taking off, landing and transiting between RAF Lakenheath and training areas between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. GMT.

Training during hours of darkness provides both aircrews and support personnel stationed at RAF Lakenheath the experience needed to maintain a ready force capable of supporting mutual security agreements between the U.S. and U.K. in addition to ensuring the collective defense of NATO.

All training will be conducted in accordance with Ministry of Defence and U.K. airspace regulations.

Please contact the MOD at SWK-lowflying@mod.gov.uk with any aircraft-related flying concerns.
