Two-week period of night flying at RAF Lakenheath Published Oct. 31, 2022 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The 48th Fighter Wing will be conducting night flying operations beginning Nov. 1-4, and again Nov. 7-10. During these dates, communities in East Anglia and around the United Kingdom may see or hear U.S. aircraft taking off, landing and transiting between RAF Lakenheath and training areas between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. GMT. Training during hours of darkness provides both aircrews and support personnel stationed at RAF Lakenheath the experience needed to maintain a ready force capable of supporting mutual security agreements between the U.S. and U.K. in addition to ensuring the collective defense of NATO.
