Clean-up, clean-up everybody, everywhere Published Oct. 2, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Erin Babis 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Approximately 1,400 Airmen participated in this year's Base Clean-up event, Sept. 25, to rid the Wing of unsightly and potentially costly debris. "We all want to live and work in a place we are proud of, and a clean environment is a positive one," said Tech Sgt. Jessica Mann, Base Clean-up event coordinator. Keeping the base clean also removes debris that could potential result in foreign object damage incidents, explained Mann. "Each piece of debris removed is a potential incident avoided," Mann said. "Anyone can help by picking up trash regardless of its location, it's a team effort." Last year, the event resulted in the clean-up of 7,000 pounds of debris from Royal Air Force Lakenheath and parts of RAF Feltwell. This year, the base clean up yielded a total of 2,400 pounds of trash. "One of the objectives is to keep RAF Lakenheath trash-free to aid in flying safety operations," Mann said. "At the same time, turn in recyclables to continue the great work our recycling center does."
