Core Value Portrayed: Excellence In All We Do

How does the individual portray this core value?
Emery was submitted for a Liberty Spotlight by Master Sgt. Lindsey Sharpe, 48th Force Support Squadron NCO in charge of readiness and mortuary affairs. According to Sharpe, Emery is truly one-of-a-kind. She is motivated, a superior team-player and gives excellence in all she does. The Royal Air Force Lakenheath FSS Mortuary Affairs and Readiness office is extremely lucky to have her.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I joined the Air Force to travel, finish school and remove myself from my comfort zone. I enjoy new challenges but would not have always pushed myself to pursue them. Being the youngest of five children, leaving my small town was far from my comfort zone but I have never regretted that decision.

How does your job support the mission of the 48th Fighter Wing?
My current job as the Unit Deployment Manager means managing training, taskings and sending military members on deployments and temporary duty assignments. In addition, I am a mortuary technician, which includes next-of-kin briefings and returning deceased members home to their loved ones.

What drives you as an Airman?
Pride! I enjoy helping others and knowing that I've made a difference. Working in FSS, I've been able to help military and civilian members at the fitness center, dining facility, flightline kitchen and now in mortuary and readiness.

What skills do you possess that set you apart from others?
I can normally work with anyone. I get along well with others and work hard to ensure a cohesive work environment. I often find it easier to put others before myself.

What has been your favorite place to travel in England/Europe, or where would you like to travel to?
I would love the chance to see Thailand.
