Core Value Portrayed: Excellence In All We Do

How does the individual portray this core value?
Brown was submitted for a Liberty Spotlight by Master Sgt. Sonya Kenck, 48th Surgical Operations Squadron OB-GYN services flight chief. According to Kenck, Brown has excelled in every aspect since arriving to the OB clinic in July 2015. She has excelled in her upgrade training and continually performs at the level of an NCO.  In her 10 short months in her duty section, she has already championed five process improvements, recapturing 600 man-hours, and earned Flight Airman of the Month for September and March. She manages the perinatal committee meeting, collecting and preparing data for 22 members, and ensures four flights are 100 percent compliant with Air Force Medical Operations Agency initiatives. Brown attended the physical training leader advanced course, which certified her to lead 12 squadron and flight PT sessions. Finally, because of her superb leadership ability, Brown was selected to fill the NCO-in-charge position for one week, overseeing the daily operations of 12 enlisted members and a $440,000 budget, which generated $28,700 in medical care. Outside of work, Brown is very active with Airmen Committed to Excellence and is currently serving as the committee's fundraising chairman.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I graduated college and was unsure what the next step in my life should be. Growing up, I was able to witness first-hand the enormous success both my parents had while being active duty, so I decided to enlist.

How does your job support the mission of the 48th Fighter Wing?
Through our routine medical care of obstetric and gynecologic patients, we are able to provide support to active duty members and dependents. This, in turn, allows their focus or their spouse's focus, to remain on the mission.

What drives you as an Airman?
I'm intrinsically motivated. I seek out opportunities because I'm passionate about the medical field.

What skills do you possess that set you apart from others?
Because of my background both outside of the military and my limited time in the Air Force, I have been exposed to some unique leadership opportunities. I have taken advantage of those opportunities and developed my skills as a leader, which I believe sets me apart from my peers.

What has been your favorite place to travel in England/Europe, or where would you like to travel to?
My favorite place to travel was Wales. I was able to conquer a lot of my fears while zip lining and rock climbing through a cave.
