Core Value Portrayed: Service Before Self

How does the individual portray this core value?
Morris was submitted for a Liberty Spotlight by Tech. Sgt. Luis Vega, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron NCO in charge of cargo movement.  According to Vega, Morris is a dedicated Airman who always puts the Air Force mission first. He is RAF Lakenheath's transportation go-to Airman because he understands the importance of accuracy, timing and the attention-to-detail it takes to keep cargo moving through the Air Force pipeline. Every task he is assigned, he achieves without hesitation and steps up when it is time for us to deploy to numerous locations throughout Europe. He is a true example of Service Before Self!

Why did you join the Air Force?
I joined the Air Force so I could serve my country, travel the world and get an education, all at the same time.

How does your job support the mission of the 48th Fighter Wing?
My job supports the mission by ensuring that cargo and equipment is shipped to the customer on time anywhere in the world.  This function allows the warfighter to be Forward, Ready, Now.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy getting to see all the parts of an aircraft and the equipment the pilots wear. I also get to see how I directly impact the mission.

What drives you as an Airman?
Due to my competitive nature, I'm driven to be the best at what I do. I try to gain as much knowledge as I can to be a top performer.

What skills do you possess that set you apart from others?
My diligence makes for a great skill when it comes to getting the job done. This plays an important role when others don't want to do it. My attentiveness also allows me to catch a problem before it escalates to a much bigger problem. Finally, my willingness to work longer hours than asked allows my section to process nearly all cargo that is received on a daily basis.

What has been your favorite place to travel in England/Europe, or where would you like to travel to?
So far my favorite place that I have visited is Bulgaria. The weather is great and the variety of food is simply amazing.
