How does the individual portray that core value?
Rivord was submitted by Staff Sgt. Dylan Jones, 48th Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental engineering team lead. According to Jones, Rivord's dedication and commitment to the mission highlights why he embodies Service Before Self. Other Airmen and many of the non-commissioned officers consider him the go-to Airman when it comes to learning a new piece of equipment and learning new tasks. Additionally, he serves as the bioenvironmental engineering flight's primary emergency responder for any chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear or aircraft incident responses. Rivord continuously stays late and comes in early to ensure the bioenvironmental engineering flight can perform the mission. A dedicated volunteer, Rivord was a member of the 48th Medical Group Annual Awards committee, used his artistic skills to design the 48th AMDS squadron commander's coin, judged scholarship packages for the Enlisted Spouses' Club, and participated in Operation Warmheart.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I joined the Air Force to start an adventure.

How does your job support the mission of the 48th Fighter Wing?
My job as a bioenvironmental engineering journeyman is to provide flexible and sustainable Force Health Protection recommendations to predict and reduce adverse health effects in all occupational, environmental and CBRN operations.

What drives you as an Airman?
Being a part of something bigger than myself and working with a team drives me.

What skills do you possess that set you apart from others?
I strive to be a great wingman and am not scared to step out of the crowd to be the leader.

What has been your favorite place to travel in England/Europe, or where would you like to travel to?
Snowboarding is my thing, so naturally I gravitated towards the Alps. I would have to say Austria was by far the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Picture being on top of a mountain looking out over the Alps, and as far as you can see is nothing but a sea of mountaintops in all directions.
